April 13, 2008 – When citizens check out sketches of ideas for Winter Park’s growth planning this evening at 6:30 p.m. in the Welcome Center, they’ll be reconnecting with a heritage more than a century old. Tonight’s “pin-up” of ideas represents the planning teams’ initial responses to hopes and suggestions from citizens over the course of several weeks’ research and five focused meetings on Friday and Saturday. The topics for the three meetings held on Saturday: Economic development, housing choice and affordability, and sustainable development. ![]() The idea is to integrate these interdependent priorities for planning into a new regulating plan and architectural guidelines for the Central Business District and four key corridors. The Sunday-night pin-up and pin-up repeat on Monday at lunchtime allow the two consulting teams from PlaceMakers and Canin Associates to test preliminary ideas on citizens and elected officials. Reactions to the displays and explanations will help the teams correct wayward ideas and refine the good ones for Tuesday night’s final presentation.
